Cut of List of AIEEE 2011:

By Akash Institute:

Despite the AIEEE 2011 getting delayed by more than two hours due to reports of the paper getting leaked in Uttar Pradesh, the paper was very simple. Pritika Ghura from Learnhub talks to Aakash Chaudhry, CEO and Director of Aakash Educational Services Ltd, about the paper pattern, students' reaction and expected cut offs for AIEEE 2011..

Q1. Are you satisfied with the All India Engineering Entrance Exam that was held today? Were there any changes in pattern of questions as compared to last year?
Ans. As the question papers were supposedly leaked, the paper was postponed by three hours. However, the paper was quite satisfactory. The examination had no surprises, and the paper followed the same trend as the last time i.e. 30 questions in each subject, a total of 90 questions constituting 360 as maximum marks. Only difference is that this time all questions carried 4 marks, unlike last year where there were 8 marks questions also, apart from 4 marks questions.
Q2. What is the general reaction of students who took the exam today? Did they find it difficult to crack?
Ans. The students who took this exam heaved a sigh of relief as the paper was comparatively easy as compared to last year.
Q3. Were there any printing errors or discrepancies in AIEEE 2011?
Ans. There have been no printing errors reported so far.
Q4. Sir, on the basis of the exam can you predict the overall and subject-wise cut-offs?
Ans. Predicting the overall AIEEE 2011 cut off is very difficult as this stage. However, going by the general response, Physics was difficult while Maths and Chemistry were not that difficult. Since the AIEEE is used by many institutes in India for their admissions and for each of the affiliated institutes the cut offs are different. Some newly opened and not so well reputed institutes, as compared to NITs, accept students with relatively lower score. However, indicatively it seems that if a student if targeting top engineering colleges like NITs throughAIEEE then a score above 210 (out of 360) should be able to give a rank under 10000. Similarly, a score of 180-185 should keep the candidate under 20000 rank, a rank of under 40000 should be achieved with a score of 150.
Q5. This year the AIEEE exam was also held in the Online format. However, only 4,904 students registered for it. What is the reason behind this lukewarm response?
Ans. India has still a long way to go before it catches up with west on technology front. Due to several technical glitches that several computer adaptive test had in the last year (eg CAT), the students were apprehensive about taking the examination online.
Q6. What is the minimum number of questions that a student needs to attempt to get an All India rank under 10,000?
Ans. Out of 90, if a student attempts around 55-60 questions right (with a few negative marks), he/she should be able to score an all India rank under 10000.
Q7. What is the minimum All India rank that one can expect to get admission in top engineering colleges like NITs?
Ans. Most of the students under 8000 rank generally opt for IITs over NITs. Therefore based on students' preference for a specific engineering stream an AIR of under 20000 should get a seat in any of the good NITs. Having said that, if a student wishes a top opt for a top NIT with most popular engineering streams like Computer Sciences, Electronics, Electrical etc, then he/she should score under AIR 8000.
Q8. Any last message which you would like to give to those students who have failed to do well inAIEEE? What should be their plan of action now?
Ans. Though we admit that there is nothing like failing, a student must realize that it was just a bad day. These words are not meant to console you but to remind you that if you continue to work hard and put in your best, then it really does not matter where you study.
By Carrier Point:
From predicting AIEEE 2011 cut offs to discussing paper's pattern, from the students' reactions to the furore created after the paper got leaked, Pramod Maheshwari, Director andCEO of Career Point Infosystems Ltd talks to Pritika Ghura about AIEEE 2011..

Learnhub: Are you satisfied with the All India Engineering Entrance Exam that was held today? Were there any changes in pattern of questions as compared to last year?
Career Point:The exam was average if we compare it to the last year. However, the major issue was leakage of question paper which created a big confusion among students. The pattern of today's paper was more or less the same as it was last year except the change in slight sequence of subjects. Today, it was Physics, Maths and Chemistry in sequence and last year it was Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
Learnhub: What is the general reaction of students who took the exam today? Did they find it difficult to crack?
Career Point: It was an easy paper for the students who prepared systematically & seriously for AIEEE. However, there were few questions asked in the paper that were exclusively from AIEEE syllabus, and it would have been difficult for the group of students who had prepared for IIT-JEE only as these topics are not in IIT-JEEsyllabus. Overall it was a good paper.
Learnhub: Were there any printing errors or discrepancies in AIEEE 2011?
Career Point: There were no errors noticed this year. However, there was some confusion in the information of Maths questions.
Learnhub: Sir, on the basis of the exam can you predict the overall and subject-wise cut offs?
Career Point: It will be too early to declare or predict the individual cut-off. However, if a student scores around 55% in today's exam then I expect they he/she will get a seat in NITs
.
Learnhub: This year the AIEEE exam was also held in the online format. However, only 4,904 students registered for it. What is the reason behind this lukewarm response?
Career Point: I think students of class 12th are not mature to take examination online. If we go by a rough estimation then we found that around 60% students are either from semi-urban or rural areas, who are not comfortable even with computers.
Learnhub: What is the minimum number of questions that a student needs to attempt to get an All India rank under 10,000?
Career Point: As I stated already, it is difficult to predict as of now. But historically if anybody is able to secure marks more than 55% then chances of getting rank under 10,000 is very bright.
Learnhub: What is the minimum All India rank that one can expect to get admission in top engineering colleges like NITs?
Career Point: If we go rank wise than to seal a seat in NITs, student must get a rank under 20,000.
Learnhub: Any last message which you would like to give to those students who have failed to do well inAIEEE? What should be their plan of action now?
Career Point: After AIEEE, such student should focus on other state level pre-engineering examinations. In case they which to prepare again then should start preparation without delay to take time advantage for next year.
